Our free tier is perfect for small communities, testing mods, or hosting events. It includes 2 GB RAM and 1 vCPU on ARM with two random ports. This guide walks through creation, configuration, and upgrade paths — plus performance tips so you get the most out of the free plan.
Create your server
- Open the Products page and scroll to Gameservers (Free). Click Get free.
- Choose a game type: Minecraft, lightweight engines, or Custom. Give your server a friendly name.
- We’ll allocate an IP and two random ports in the 5000–10000 range. You can request additional ports when you upgrade.
Manage from the dashboard
Find your server under Portal → Services. You can start/stop/reboot and view allocated ports. If you enabled our game panel integration, you also get a web console and simple file management for configs and mods.
Performance tips for the free tier
- Use optimized modpacks and limit tick‑rate heavy plugins.
- Schedule restarts and autosaves during off‑peak hours.
- Prefer lightweight maps and reduce view distances.
Upgrading without downtime
When your community grows, upgrade to add RAM/CPU, extra storage, and additional ports. Upgrades retain your IP and data. Many users step up to our paid Minecraft or Rust plans for headroom and better concurrency.
FAQ
Can I change the allocated ports?
Ports are random on the free tier. With paid plans you can request specific ports or entire ranges.
What happens if my server idles?
We may hibernate idle servers to keep the free tier sustainable. Activity immediately wakes the container.
